HELLO AND THANKS TO ALL THE CAMPERS THAT WORKED SO HARD DURING OUR 2008 SUMMER CAMPS OVER THE FALL AND WINTER I WILL BE POSTING A WEEKLY UPDATE ON THIS WEB SITE THAT WILL HELP YOU ALL BECOME A BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER ATHLETE!
A REVIEW OF WHAT WE COVERED IN CAMP 2008
*THERE ARE 206 BONES IN THE BODY WORKING WITH 620 MUSCLES
all of these muscles need to be warmed up (walking, jogging, biking) and then properly stretched out
*MAKE SURE YOU CONTINUE TO STRECTH STRETCHING IS NOT SOMETHING YOU ONLY DO DURING CAMP YOU NEED TO STRETCH EVERYDAY AND BEFORE AND AFTER PRACTICE
*IF WE ARE INJURED WE DO THE RICE TREATMENT
R--rest
I- Ice 20 minutes on 20 minutes off 20 minutes on
C- compression a ace wrap, tensor
E- Elevation
All athletes need to develop their CORE what makes up the CORE
hamstrings, low back, quads and abs
What should we do upon arrival at the rink
After putting your equipment in the locker room
warm up for 10 - 15 minutes a walk around the arena a jog around the arena a walk up the stairs
stretch - 15 - 20 minutes
visulization- preview in your mind how you be sucessful both your self and as a team mate
make sure you drink plenty of water at least 8 glasses per day...during a game drink water every time you come to the bench
AVOID CANDY BARS AND SODA'S BEFORE GAMES!
